The historic city of Colchester has been recorded as the oldest city in Great Britain, of which it was the capital during the Roman period. Today, it is a modern city with rapid and continuous growth in trade, high technology and light industry. Colchester's shopping center is pedestrianized with small cafes, restaurants and local shops with traditional products.
It is about an hour north-east of London by train and is definitely worth a visit to enjoy its unique culture!
